Stanisław Domagałło

For Ystad, high capacity and environmental requirements were two key aspects of the [PŻB228] project. We used a sulfur- and nitrogen-oxide-free LNG drive and fuel-saving solutions. The significant length of the load lines and the relatively large capacity of 11,000 T ensured transport efficiency. The result was a well-thought-out and refined ferry, which guaranteed the profitability of the whole undertaking for the shipowner.

Mr. Stanisław Domagałło, Chief Designer

NED-Project provides the design and engineering of RoPax vessels in cooperation with key suppliers, shipyards, and owners. With the owner’s profit and passengers’ satisfaction as well as environmental regulations in mind, we create ferries that are both profit-generating and eco-friendly.

Regardless of the scale of the project – whether it’s a compact and affordable ferry for a short coastal route or a bigger unit providing transport and leisure – we have the knowledge and tools to make the best of the provided budget and foreseen space. Our team of naval designers, engineers, architects, and managers develop a complete project, from the first draft to the finished product, making sure the whole process goes worry-free for the owner. As an added advantage, we employ 3D modeling and VR solutions to present the owner with a complete view of the project and discuss any adjustments long before the construction begins.

Recognizing current market conditions and environmental regulations, we propose technological solutions that are aimed at maximizing the economic viability of the investment for the shipowner whilst complying with current and upcoming environmental legislation. Such equipment as vertical wind power generators and low-emission dual-fuel engines are a standard for us, and a new benchmark for all of the marine industry.

LNG Car Carrier

PCTC Type

LENGTH OVERALL: 195.2 m
CAR LANE LENGTH: 25800 m
DEADWEIGHT: 15300 MT
MAIN PURPOSE: The PCTC is designed to be efficient and eco-friendly. It can carry up to 6200 cars on 13 decks thanks to 25 800 m of cargo lanes. LNG fuel is stored in 2400 m3 tanks, ensuring significant emission reduction and 15 days of endurance.

The main features of the ship:

  • Vessel is designed to use LNG and MTO fuels
  • Fifteen decks forming thirteen cargo levels, seven of them to be arranged as hoistable car decks
  • The main design of hull structure is arranged to minimize steel weight above deck no. 5; the decks to be supported by two rows of pillars throughout the whole hull
  • Access to cargo areas to be provided by:
    • One aft ramp at deck no. 5 on SB side pointing in the aft direction, which also serves as the aft door. The ramp to have 150 tonnes capacity and 7 m driving width
    • One 22 tonne capacity side ramp with a side door on SB side, in front of LNG fuel storage space bulkhead at deck no. 5
    • Set of internal ramps and ramp covers connecting all decks. Where required by rules the ramps to be made watertight and/or gas-tight
  • Seven of cargo levels (deck no. 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13) to be arranged on liftable decks. The handling of the decks is to be carried out by two mobile deck lifters carried on the ship and included in the delivery to the Owner
  • Propulsion machinery will consist of a slow-speed, reversible, dual fuel diesel engine driving a fixed-pitch propeller
  • A CPP type bow thruster having the power output of about 1400 kW
  • Endurance of the vessel at a service speed of 20 knots at 90% MCR to be about 15 days.
